Birthday-Week Wrap Up

So today finally concludes my birth-week. I have to say, it was pretty decent. I was able to spend time with almost everyone. Surprisingly enough, this was the first birthday that I didn’t have a birthday cake. I’m really not upset about that though. It didn’t make much of a difference to me. It was nice to have a little break from work and a nice time with most of the people that are close to me.

Grief, Books, and Sushi

I know that it has been a while since the last time I posted anything on here. Believe me, I have been wanting so badly to write about what has been going on. I contemplated many times what to share with you all. Then I realized, that writing is not about holding about…and therapeutic aspect may help me come to terms with a lot of what has been going on.

About 2 weeks ago, my stepbrother died. Usually, I wouldn’t share this information because of how personal it is to my family, but I really can’t help it. I need to write about it. I was really close with my stepbrother for about 10 years. I practically spent every other weekend with him. However, when my dad and his mom divorced, I lost contact with him. I haven’t spoken to him in five years and I feel terrible about it. It’s just hard for me to wrap my mind around.

On a lighter note, I have been reading a ton of books lately. I like having the ability to indulge in a life so different than my own. I really need another Barnes & Noble trip here soon. I can’t believe how quickly I read through books.

I went to a Korean sushi place with my dad and sister about a week ago and tried real sushi for the first time. I did not like it. The consistency of the sushi was mushy and I really don’t like the taste of fish. I tried a California roll too, just to see if it was the fish that made it taste bad, but I thought that was gross too. How do people enjoy that mushy consistency?

I know that there wasn’t any sort of transitions used in this, but that’s just how my mind has been working lately. My goal for today was just to write something and I think I’ve achieved that. Thanks for reading.
